We Could Just Tell You, But It’s More Fun As A Star Wars Opening Crawl

This Friday night, Green Room unleashes it’s first annual May The Fourth Party, an over-the-top event that celebrates the Star Wars movie series. As usual, the Green Room creative squad has stuffed the night with tons of eye and ear morsels. Rather than just writing all the details in a boring, long-winded paragraph, I thought it’d be WAY more to fun to hash out all the juicy details in the form of a good ol’ Star Wars opening crawl. Hit play! (for those of you who are no fun and enjoy reading in its mundane traditional form, look for the transcript below the video)

Video transcript:

In the galaxy of South Florida, on the most remote section of the planet of downtown Fort Lauderdale, in a  province known as Green Room, lies a venue that showcases some of the galaxy’s most creative humans, droids, and creatures. A rogue place not controlled by anyone, let alone The Federation. Where the dark side and the light side can hang out together, and enjoy a PBR + a shot of jack ($7). Where the only rule is that you must be 21+ and NOT Jar Jar Binks or an eff’n Trekkie.

On May the 4th, the province of Green Room will be overtaken by 14 different local artists, skin suspension light saber battles, a performance by the 3000 Brigade, a costume contest, photobooth, and so much more! Jedi LinderSMASH and Darth Kaos will be spinning 80s, new wave, indie, and industrial inside the ship. That Droid Sam will be guest DJing on the hull. Only 5 credits to get in (or $5). Ship doors open at 10pm. 2 for 1′s before midnight.

May the 4th be with you!

$5 cover, doors at 10pm, 2-4-1′s before 12.

Skin Mechanic Suspension at Black Friday

Suspension Skin Mechanic Suspension at Black FridayFans of gigantic steel hooks and St. Patty’s day debauchery rejoice! Green Room is excited to bring back the painfully surreal antics of the Skin Mechanic Suspension group. And If their previous showcase at Green Room is any indication, patrons can expect tons of human in-air hook suspension, hopefully including (fingers crossed) the infamous “human pinata,” in which the crowd took turns swinging a bat at a man hooked and swinging in mid air (self explanatory, i know, but just in case you were wondering how literal of an interpretation to take).

The Skin Mechanics literally bleed and scar for your entertainment, so it stands to reason that such passion (and pain) should be showcased on an evening as momentous as this. On addition to the entertainment, Guest DJ Lady Anime and DJ favorites Linder Smash and Chaos will be maintaining the St. Patty’s day theme of the night alive and well.
