Local retro rockers The Riot Act are coming back to the Green Room for another high energy performance. The duo hails straight out of a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack or an early 1970′s house party. Their latest music video, edited by Chuck Livid of Livid Records, channels the band’s vintage rock n’ roll sound and throws in a weird menstruation angle to keep everyone on their toes. Although I cannot relate to our female readers on this topic, I can assure you that based on what I’ve seen in this video, the modern tampon has come a long long way. Yikes.
Let’s not get distracted by all this ‘period’ talk though; this song is catchy as hell and takes us back in time to a period– err, I mean place — that preceded cheesy disco and followed in the path of The Stooges and other groundbreaking old school garage acts. Enjoy.
The Riot Act performs at Digital Love tonight, Mig & Andie Sweetswirl, video games, $5 craft beers, $2 PBRs, doors at 10pm, 21+, mention “the period blog post” at the door for a FREE drink
Thanks to everyone who came out for Digital Love’s birthday party. It was great seeing so many familiar faces and meeting a slew of new people. As some of you that attended already know, the Digital Love mixtape CDs ran out quickly; however, if you weren’t able to nab a physical copy last Thursday or couldn’t attend for whatever reason, you’re in luck. For your streaming and downloading pleasure, we’ve digitized the CD and uploaded it on Mediafire for download. Although the beautiful album artwork (see above) does not transfer over to mp3s, all the local tunes are there. I hope you enjoy and continue to come out to Green Room to enjoy live local music.
Here’s to another fun year of Digital Love Thursdays!
